Telehealth services expanded to all patients
The Federal Government, AMA and RACGP have announced that telehealth services will be extended to all patients, with or without COVID-19, to see any general practitioner or medical specialist during the COVID-19 health emergency. The details will be developed during this week.

AMA Federal Council COVID-19 Communique
The AMA Federal Council recently released an important COVID-19 Communiqué.
Recognising that Australian Governments, advised by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), have been working to respond to the escalation of COVID-19 in Australia, and that many announced measures, particularly expanded use of medical telehealth services, are yet to be fully optimised, the AMA believes the next stage of responding to COVID-19 requires strong medical leadership.

Motor Accident Injuries Scheme
A new motor accident injuries scheme commenced in the ACT on 1 February 2020. Under the new scheme everyone who is injured in a motor vehicle accident in the ACT will be entitled to receive treatment, care and lost income benefits for up to five years.

AMA Public Health Award 2020 - call for nominations
The AMA is seeking nominations of people or groups who have made an extraordinary contribution to health care and public health.
Recipients will be invited to attend the 2020 AMA National Conference in Canberra in May 2020, where the awards will be presented. The AMA may contribute to travel costs for recipients to attend the presentation.
In the year following the presentation of the awards, recipients will have the opportunity to participate in interviews with interested media, and engage in AMA supported activities promoting their work in their field of expertise.
